An email received by the DKA Solar Centre -

Is there a reason the DK centre isn't trialling/doesn't have the results for these new panels? They've been available in Australia for at least 2 months now. I'd really like to see how they compare with other panels.

Hi,

Thanks for your email.

We have had 3 phases of technology installations at the DKA Solar Centre. The technologies were selected based on tender processes we conducted and the funding for the installations was provided by the Australian Government. The last tender process was held in July 2009.

Some other technologies that were installed under a commercial arrangement last year will appear on the website in the next week or so.

Additionally, we will soon be holding a new tender process for a phase 4 of technology installations. The installations will be funded by the technology suppliers.

So, to answer your question, we do not operate by simply installing new solar panels that appear on the market.

The tender process has not been held yet so I cannot tell you what the phase 4 installations will include.

Hi SolarChic,

The tender should be released soon. After that there will be a period to allow for responses to be received. Then we will review the responses. We will then organise for the selected technologies to be installed.

So, I cannot give you a firm date.
