how many strings?

I am almost ready to sign off on a 7.4Kw system, using 40 Trina panels, on one part of my roof I have some shade, I am about to have these trees removed, but may have to take more out. In the meantime my solar co. has suggested 2x4kw SMA inverters and said "this will enable us to break the strings down as low as possible,as this would help any shading issues. I thought that having more strings would lessen any hotspots??. Cany you please advise me, as I thought I needed more strings to make this system work better. Thanks.
