Polycrystalline silicon array, roof mount

This Roof-mounted solar arrays take advantage of otherwise unused roof space, and they can save the cost of self-supporting array frames. A roof-mount array is generally the most practical solution for a domestic or commercial urban installation.

This BP polycrystalline array has the same configuration as the fixed ground-mounted polycrystalline array installed at the Solar Centre. Comparing the outputs of these two arrays will determine the impact of mounting an array on the roof.

These may arise from factors such as array-heating caused by decreased air circulation on a roof-mount array.

An array of the size installed here will generate an equivalent amount of energy through the year to the total annual electricity consumption of an average Australian household.

BP Solar has supplied solar solutions in the Australian market for over 30 years.

Electricity produced (annual):8.0 MWh*
System size:4.9 kW
Array area:37.8 m²
Number of panels:30
Panel efficiency:13.1%
Panel type:BP 3165
Panel rated output:165 W
Inverter size, type:6kW, SMA SMC 6000A
Array orientation:True north, at 25º tilt

*This figure is based on an assumption of 1.622 MWh annually, per kWp of installed solar panels. This may prove to be a conservative estimate for Alice Springs.
